Background Design Drawing Tasks

These are just some of the quicker, sketchier pieces I've been working on within this module. More refined pieces will pop up on the blog soon!

Motion Studies Character Designs

The first part of this weeks 2D assignment was to create two contrasting characters. I'm really happy with these characters. These assignments are definitely helping me to improve my design skills. I used to find it extremely difficult to create a character from imagination, but its getting easier! Although they're simple. They won't be too complicated to animate!

Motion Studies Character Design

This weeks assignment was to create a 2D character. I created a little Alien. The first design was much to tall, but it was a starting point!

My second and final character design for this assignment was this little fella! Better proportions and easier to animate with some basic clothing on. Now time to make him walk!

Penryn 800 Character Designs - Thomas Pellow

This design is based on Thomas Pellow whilst in Morocco/Arriving back from Morocco. I based the outfit on the only illustration of Pellow himself, on wikipedia. I then looked up traditional Morocco attire on google to work out a colour scheme!

Planning my Experimental Animation

There's still so much to develop, but this is my initial plan for the 90 Second Experimental Animation final hand in. It's a really exciting project as we now have complete control over our creative license. I really look forward to taking this further!

Natural Blind Drawings

This has been my favourite art practice so far this year! Blind drawing flowers, and then working back into them with water colour pencil afterwards. I am going to keep making these as they not only look really cute. They also help with hand eye coordination!

Stop Motion Puppet

Over the Christmas break, my Dad and I put our little heads together, to make my first ever Stop Motion Puppet. Not one that I'll be using to animate with (you'll see why below) I simply wanted to learn/attempt, to simply make one. I used Balsa wood, a craft knife to carve the wood, wire, Balsa cement to fix it all together and some Silk clay to sculpt the head and arms. The head, is a little scary, to say the least.
